READING FONT PERMISSIONS

Understanding font permissions

A guide to checking publisher terms by use. Each font’s detail page contains its reviewed states and original evidence links.

Four permission states

Allowed

✓

The named use is assessed as permitted within the recorded evidence and version scope. Check original terms for any required notices.

Conditional

!

Additional conditions apply. Meet the listed conditions and check any needed permission or notices. This state does not automatically enable downloads or web delivery.

Prohibited

×

The recorded evidence does not permit the named use. Related previews, file delivery and code are restricted according to the reviewed scope.

Unknown

?

Evidence or review is insufficient. Do not interpret this as permission; check the original terms or ask the publisher about your intended use.

Check each use separately

Commercial, print, video, logo and packaging

These describe using letterforms in an output. Commercial permission does not necessarily grant every specific use, such as a logo or packaging.

Web and app embedding

Embedding delivers font files within a website or app. Webfont previews also transfer font files and therefore follow the delivery review.

Font file redistribution

This concerns supplying font files to others. Original installation downloads are provided only for files with reviewed redistribution conditions and evidence for that version.

Modification and subsetting

These concern changing a file or reducing its character coverage. Web embedding does not automatically permit conversion. Naming and notice conditions can apply separately.

SOURCE & VERSION

Check evidence and version together

Use KoreaFonts to explore Korean fonts, compare your own text, download original installation files and get webfont code. Each detail page brings together usage conditions, the license notices and original-source links, publisher information, the distribution version and reference material. Each font’s LICENSE.txt is provided alongside its original files.

Site labels do not change a publisher’s original terms. Confirm that your intended use and file version fit the evidence scope. Successful webfont loading is not evidence of permission.
